The inn was originally built in 1904 as the residence for the Koenig Hardware Store owners. It was the second largest version of a Sears and Roebuck catalogue house ~ original cost of $1800! The inn was used as an art gallery for nearly two decades and was called the Highbanks Gallery of Saugatuck. It expanded its horizons and become the Saugatuck Victorian Inn before changing names in 2017 to become the Inn of Saugatuck.
